Washington women need YOU to speak out in support of the Reproductive Parity Act (HB 2330/SB 6185), exciting new legislation that will require all health insurance policies sold in the state that cover maternity care to cover abortion care. ALL women, regardless of income, deserve equal access to coverage for basic reproductive health care, including abortion.
We will be meeting at the Capitol in Olympia to speak to our legislators about why insurance plans sold in Washington State must cover all pregnancy options—from maternity care to abortion care. The House hearing is at 10am and the Senate hearing is at 1:30pm. We’re asking our supporters to arrive by 8am – arriving early is crucial, since we know our anti-choice opponents will be out in force, trying to roll back women’s access to reproductive health care.

Between hearings, legislators, staff and activists will be joining us to say “thank you†to the pro-choice champions in Washington State for standing up for women’s rights and health. Wear turquoise, wear your buttons and come ready to stand in solidarity with Washington’s pro-choice majority.
Washington State has a long history of ensuring a woman’s ability to make the decision to have an abortion, but as Washington proceeds with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Washington women could face increased barriers in their ability to access reproductive health care, including abortion services. Anti-choice politicians in Congress tried to undermine the ACA and inserted a provision to roll back reproductive health care protections that states like Washington value. This legislation addresses that problem and helps ensure that Washington’s health care system remains fair and equitable for all women.
While numerous states across the country have instituted outright bans on health insurance coverage for abortion in their health care exchanges, the Washington legislature is considering legislation that protects access to women’s health care. Please join us on January 19 and be a voice for choice!
