Town Hall Seattle: Gar Alperovitz: America Beyond Capitalism

Wednesday, October 3, 2012, 7:30 – 9:00pm

Downstairs at Town Hall; enter on Seneca Street. $5.

Activist and economist Gar Alperovitz offers a diagnosis of what ails America, and prescribes what Noam Chomsky calls “concrete and feasible” solutions. Alperovitz’s emerging “new economy” strategies propose locally-based, bottom-up efforts that democratize wealth and empower communities—changing a faltering system that, says Alperovitz, increasingly fails to sustain the great American values of equality, liberty, and meaningful democracy. Presented as part of the Town Hall Civics series with Elliott Bay Book Company. Series supported by The Boeing Company, the RealNetworks Foundation, and the True/Brown Foundation.

Tickets are $5 at townhallseattle.org or 888/377-4510 and at the door beginning at 6:30 pm. Town Hall members receive priority seating. Downstairs at Town Hall; enter on Seneca Street.
