Washington Conservation Voters reports:

Governor Inslee announced his 2013-2015 budget. With it, Governor Inslee draws a line in the sand: He has proposed to close the Big Oil tax loophole that gives away $41 million each biennium to out-of-state oil companies!

Will you join Governor Inslee in standing up to Big Oil? Add your name your name to our petition in support of closing the costly, unnecessary Big Oil tax loophole.

We, the undersigned, support Gov. Jay Inslee’s proposal to close the Big Oil tax loophole that gives away $41 million each biennium to out-of-state oil companies.

This “accidental loophole” was passed in 1949, before any oil refineries operated in Washington state. Now, refineries owned by big, out of state oil companies receive 98% of the benefit of the loophole. These are companies that put their profits before the best interest of Washingtonians.
