Seattle noon rally on Saturday to defend Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security
Area Residents Put Their Feet on the Streets to Stand Up and Speak Out for Future Generations; Demand NO Cuts
to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security Â
Â
Seattle — On July 28, 2012 from noon-2:00 pm, to mark the 47th birthday of Medicare, area retirees and families will join the Washington Alliance for Retired Americans and Physicians for a National Health Program for a sidewalk parade from the Seattle Center, through the Pike Place Market to Victor Steinbrueck Park. There will be music, balloons, and street theatre.
Â
Despite widespread public support, three great American programs – Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security – are under attack by politicians in Washington, DC. Americans from coast to coast are taking action this summer and calling attention to the need to protect these great American programs.
Â
The Washington Alliance and its allies plan to top the 2011 March of over 100 attendees of all ages. Washingtonians will tell politicians at home and in the other Washington: “Allowing insurance companies to be in charge of Medicare is wrong! Crippling Medicaid funding and health care benefits for Americans families is wrong! Social Security belongs to all of us!â€
