Quickie: I want the Democrats to win, so ….
(Editor’s note. With this posting, we introduce “quickies”: short blurbs or summaries that are quick to read and — hopefully — dense in content. Links to interesting external content also count as quickies. Often readers lack time to read longer articles. Hop over to http://waliberals.org for a nice quickie!)
I really want the Democrats to win in 2012. So, I’m hoping that President Obama withdraws from the race and allows a stronger Democrat to run — the way LBJ withdrew in 1968. (Unfortunately, the assassination of RFK allowed Nixon to win that election.)  I don’t want a primary fight. I want a Democratic presidential candidate who won’t be an albatross around the necks of down-ticket Dems. President Obama has so disappointed Democrats and even independents, by his repeated capitulations and by his abandonment of fundamental Democratic policies, that there are real questions about whether he can win in 2012. See, for example, this CommonDreams article and this resolution.
