If we are going to create the world we yearn for, we need to build social movements that affirm the dignity and worth of all beings.
We must align our strategies and tactics to be based upon collective liberation.
We must resist rampant oppression amplified by the divide and conquer tactics employed by those who fear empowered communities organizing against injustice.
and…
We must engage in this work, face-to-face, in compassionate dialogue, something that facebook and “clicktivism” are sorely inadequate at providing.
To underscore the importance of these practices, on April 26th & 27th Backbone Campaign is partnering with the awesome ecofemenist and anti-oppression co-op training group the Canopy Collective to make some of these phenomenal workshops available to the greater Seattle area.
Please fill out this extremely short survey indicating what workshops you’re excited to attend (it can takes less than 3 minutes):
Especially relevant to this work is what our friends from LA, the Youth Justice Coalition, invited us to chant together at last year’s Localize This! Action Camp:
“It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
We must love each other and support each other.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.” – ASSATA SHAKUR
