Support Seattle teachers, make Chase Bank pay its fair share

Seattle Council of Move-On.org will be joining in support with Seattle Teachers that received pink slips to protest Chase Bank for avoiding State Taxes.

Where:  Chase Bank located at 1919 North 45th Street, Seattle, WA 98103
When:  Saturday May 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM

Who:  Seattle Education Association, Social Equality Educators, King County Jobs with Justice, SEIU Northwest, El Comite Pro-Reforma Migratoria y Justiciary Social, International Socialist Organization, US-Uncut Seattle, and the Washington Fair Trade Coalition.

We are expecting the largest turn-out to protest in front of any bank in the Pacific Northwest.  Why?  Because Chase paid no State taxes through loopholes that allows banks in Washington to avoid paying taxes.  Though Chase is not based in Washington, WAMU Bank whom they acquired during the bank bailout was and thus they are still given the credit.

In an effort to prove to Chase that we mean business, we are asking every Move-On member to close their Chase Bank Accounts and move them to local banks or credit unions.  At our Make Them Pay Tax Day Event in Front of Bank of America Move-On member moved over $120,000. We have a chance with the help of our sponsoring groups to move between $500,000 to $1 million.

If you are serious about wanting to do something, now is your chance to fight back and prove to one of the biggest banks that benefited from the TARP Bailout  that we are not going to take this anymore

I need your support and cooperation as we organize as one group in support for our Seattle Teachers.

Afterwards let’s celebrate at the Seattle Green Festival with all the other supporting groups to share and exchange information about our upcoming events and welcome them into our Council.  We will have council member signing up new member and passing out literature.
