Contact Senators Murray and Cantwell about the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012

Friends,

I called both Murray and Cantwell’s office this morning.  The good news is that they both voted in favor of the Udall Amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012. Thank them.

The bad news is that Udall’s Amendment did not pass, so the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 is set up to include grossly unconstitutional military policing powers that violate Posse Comitatus and the US Constitution.

I urged both senators to vote against the Defense Authorization Act of 2012, and to reintroduce their own version of the Udall Amendment, repeatedly, until it passes.

Please phone Murray and Cantwell to demand that they vigorously oppose the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 until the odious McCain-Levin provisions are removed.

Please also ask for a written response saying what they plan to do to protect Posse Comitatus, and ask that they take your name and address, as you would like a written response.
